The Opportunity:
Gridsight is a rapidly growing GridTech startup that is accelerating global electrification and decarbonisation. Our AI-powered software generates insights that ensure electrical utilities maximise reliability, optimise operations, and integrate renewable energy sources seamlessly into the grid. Having recently raised our Series A round, we’re excited to supercharge our team in our quest to modernise, optimise and decentralise the global electricity grid as fast as possible. 🚀
As Gridsight’s first Product Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in defining our design function; whether it’s through building our design system, conducting user research, or developing intuitive solutions, you’ll have the opportunity to directly shape a product that ensures electricity remains reliable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable. No one in B2B SaaS has been able to connect their customers and their wider industry around an electrifying purpose the way we have to date; in pioneering and evolving the design of our platform, you’ll directly impact and revolutionise the way utilities can enable the decentralisation and decarbonisation across the globe. Join us in our mission to enable a future-proof grid powered by decentralised resources and renewables. ⚡️
Core Responsibilities:
- Redefine and manage our design system to improve consistency, user intuition, and engineering velocity; evolve patterns and components across the end-to-end product experience;
- Create “right fidelity” design assets (journey maps, user flows, sketches, and wireframes) to test and communicate solutions;
- Contribute to our product vision; conduct research, facilitate workshops, and lead usability testing sessions with our users; design intuitive solutions to address product challenges as a result of findings;
- Collaborate; partner with product management (currently founders) and engineering to scope, prioritise and deliver highest-value product.
Your Skills + Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in product design; you’re a strategic thinker with a passion for executing end-to-end design process;
- Historical success in designing elegant solutions; your portfolio showcases practical, functional, and aesthetically pleasing product designs;
- Expert-level experience using Figma; you’re also highly proficient in design systems more generally;
- Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams to continuously optimise commercially successful products;
- Deep understanding of information architecture and usability principles; you’re experienced in conducting user research (enterprise context preferred), and in creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes;
- Excellent communication skills; you have the ability to not only engage with customers and stakeholders at all levels, but also to write clear and detailed user stories for engineering teams;
- Self-starter mentality; you’re able to independently prioritise tasks and manage time effectively with minimal oversight.
Ways We Work:
- Remote-first, office-optional. Do you work your best from home, in office, or a mix of both? Either way, we’ve got you covered [in Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra, Brisbane, and Melbourne].
- Work flexibly, communicate frequently. No hard and fast core working hours, and asynchronous communication is embraced [unless you have client commitments, of course]; transparency is the name of the game [i.e., keep the team posted].
- Travel occasionally, banter continuously. Attend in-person working weeks once per quarter and a retreat once per year; working together IRL may be infrequent, but the chats [and emojis] never stop.
